Developer on the Macdonald Hotels website. The project involved integrating their online booking system with their hotel information website. It was developed using 3rd party web services from Micros Fidelio (Opera) who provide access to their booking mechanism through Web Services. There was also integration with other 3rd parties such as Servebase, Google and QuickAddress. Skills being used in this project include C#, ASP.NET 4, SQL Server 2008, Entity Framework 4, Workflow Foundation 4, WCF, Dependency Injection & Inversion of Control (CastleWindsor), Subversion and CruiseControl Testing frameworks including MSTest, NMock and Selenium. This site is built using Umbraco CMS and implements responsive techniques to aesthetically adjust to the device which it is being viewed on.

Developer on the Village Hotels websites that included both their customer and corporate booking engines in addition to their brochure sites for their main hotels, recruitment and fitness portals. Integration was carried out with Micros Fidelio (Opera) and PostcodeAnywhere. All sites were developed in ASP.NET with their main site using Umbraco CMS.

Developer on the Find Commercial Funding project that was developed using MVC 2 and NHibernate for data access. In addition, development was carried out in integrating this site with RBS Worldpay.

NHS: Health Protection Scotland

Senior Development Technician

October 2008 – March 2010

Design and development of an application package known as PIPeR which extracts specified information, initially related to flu and pneumococcal as recorded by GP’s in patient records but with later emphasis placed on the extract of H1N1 Flu related data from a Scottish Government backed project. Development was carried out using C# with the .NET Framework and SQL Server 2000/2005. Other technologies used in the development process include, CruiseControl, Nant, WiX, Subversion, XML, XSL, MSBuild, Visual Studio, ADO.Net, SQL and SSIS. The software was deployed to all GPASS practices within Scotland. (approx. 67% of GP practices in Scotland) and interacted with servers central servers managed by Health Protection Scotland.

December 2007 – October 2008

Development of in-house software using C#, .NET 2.0 & 3.5 and SQL Server 2005. Practical experience was gained using Visual Studio Team System 2005/2008, Team Foundation Server, SQL Server, ASP.Net, ADO.Net and WiX.

Mobile Applications Developer

October 2008 – December 2007

I was involved in the development of a Windows Mobile 6 product which was used for onsite data capture. The system was developed using the .NET Compact Framework and SQL Sever CE. Interaction with the central server was carried out with Web Services. (This company is now called Captua).
